Today is a warm-up ride. In the morning, we will adjust our bicycles and set off after getting ready. We will mostly ride along the famous Midi Canal's riverside bicycle path under the shade of the trees. Depending on our cycling progress, we will arrange a picnic-style lunch along the way. In the evening, we will arrive at the hometown of "Cassoulet," a dish invented during the Hundred Years' War between England and France. The dish is served in a casserole called "Cassoulet," which is also the name of the dish. It is mainly made with French white beans and meat, along with various spices, and is slow-cooked for a long time. You must taste this traditional French dish from the southeast of France.

【Tour de France Stage 11 - Toulouse Flat Sprint Stage】

Today, we will ride towards Toulouse. At 30 kilometers before the official finish line of the Tour de France, we will enter the race course and experience the atmosphere of the race and the cheers of the crowd shouting "ALLEZ! ALLEZ!" Before the Tour de France riders arrive, we will have the opportunity to cross the official finish line and stand on the podium for a rare commemorative moment. We will enter the VIP restricted area to feel the instant when the peloton sprints across the finish line at high speed. After the race, we will take a 1-hour drive northeast to Gaillac, the most beautiful small village in the Tarn region. Gaillac is also one of the AOC red wine-producing areas in France.

【Note】
Due to strict time controls for entering and exiting the Tour de France race course, the movement of personnel and vehicles before and after the race must comply with the time regulations and guidance of the official organizers.

Although the distance today is not long, there is still have 520m elevation gains. Unlike the large number of international tourists in Paris, today our route takes us into the countryside of southwestern France. Without the influence of excessive tourist crowds, the area has well-preserved medieval town architecture from the late 12th to 13th centuries, full of the atmosphere of the French countryside, allowing us to experience a different French charm. The most distinctive style in the Tarn region is the brick-red architecture. It is also an important production area for the rare and noble woad, a plant whose stems and leaves can be used to make blue dye, mainly used for dyeing fabrics, and became the main economic source of the region in the early days.

Gaillac North East Loop
ALBI

Today's ride has an accumulated climbing elevation of 458 meters. We set off from Gaillac towards the northeast, with our first destination being "Albi." The city is mostly built with locally produced red bricks, creating a unique image of the city. The development of Albi is situated on both banks of the Tarn River. Due to the rugged valley terrain upstream, which is not conducive to navigation, Albi became a transshipment and trading station where river transport turned into land transport. In the early days, the trade of woad was also the main source of economic income. The Albi Cathedral of Saint Cecilia, located in the town center, was actually damaged during the Albigensian Crusade. During its reconstruction, the abundant red bricks were used to build a thick and towering structure, with additional marble carvings. The magnificent architectural volume highlights the power and solemnity of the church and is also one of the important attractions.

Montauban

Today, we plan to ride 75 kilometers, a long distance but mostly on flat roads, crossing through one of France's oldest historical wine regions. In the afternoon, we will pass through a greenway converted from an old railway line and arrive at another major town, "Montauban," which boasts one of the most beautiful squares in France. Located north of Toulouse, Montauban is the second-largest city in the Pyrenees region. It gradually rose to prominence in the early days due to the convenience of river transport on the Tarn River. Later, it became a junction for multiple highways and major railway lines, leading to a rapid increase in population.

Toulouse

Montauban and Toulouse are approximately 56 kilometers apart, connected by the Canal du Midi. Along the canal, there is a bicycle path with relatively more shade, which is our main riding route, mostly on flat terrain.
Toulouse is the fourth-largest city in France, also known as the "Pink City," with a population of about 520,000, second only to Paris, Marseille, and Lyon. It is a city of art and history in France. In the 17th century, with the opening of the Canal du Midi connecting the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, Toulouse became an important river transport hub, allowing for rapid development. The headquarters of Airbus is located in this city. The hotel is situated in the city center, within walking distance of the main square of the City Hall, the historic Victor-Hugo fresh food market, and the main church, the "Basilica of Saint-Sernin." The magnificent church before us was initially the first regional church in the area, with a history dating back to 250 AD. On this foundation, it was continuously expanded between 1080 and 1120 AD, presenting its current grand scale. In 1998, it was listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
